Fire Service Exploring is a worksite-based program for young men and women who are 14— 18years of age.

Fire Service Explorer posts help youth gain insight into a variety of programs that offer hands-on career activities. For young men and women who are interested in careers in the field of fire service, Exploring offers experiential learning with lots of fun-filled, hands-on activities that promote the growth and development of adolescent youth.

Fire Explorer Post #5 is chartered under the Boy Scouts of America to expose teens to the fire service. As a member of Post #5, they participate in fire related training (no live fire) and are able to ride the apparatus to live calls. It is through this exposure that we hope to encourage our next generation of firefighters. Upon reaching their 18th birthday they will be eligible to become full members of the department.
